A Most Sensational, Inspirational, Celebrational,

Muppet-ational Opportunity!

Get ready to rediscover the heart, humor, and harmony of a beloved classic like you’ve never experienced it before. Harmony Hearts Community Theater is casting for The Muppet Movie – A Screenplay Tribute! This script-in-hand performance on March 21, 2026, at the Fellowship Hall of the Church of the Messiah in Lower Gwynedd, PA, with performances at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM.

We are seeking actors with experience in comedy, improvisation, and vocal performance (including impersonating celebrities and classic Muppet characters) to take part in a live, in-person reading of The Muppet Movie, the 1979 film that launched a thousand felt-covered dreams.

Audition INfo

For auditions, please record yourself performing three short readings using the provided monologues (“sides”). Your submissions should be designed to give us a sense of your voice, timing, character instincts, and an overall “vibe” of the character impressions you choose to show off. Before you record:• Read through each selection several times, both silently and aloud.• Choose a monologue(s) that best shows off your connection to three characters.• You may read any role regardless of gender. Remember, we are looking for personality and range.• Record on a phone, tablet, or computer. Clear audio matters more than video quality.• No costumes, props, or puppets needed. Just energy, focus, and imagination.• The performance itself will be script-in-hand, so your audition can be too. At the start of your recording, please introduce yourself: “Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am auditioning for The Muppet Movie – A Screenplay Tribute. My first reading will be [character or style]. My second reading will be [character or style]. My third reading will be [character or style].” Submitting your audition: If you are able, please submit one single video by either uploading it/them [HERE] or emailing it/them to barryd@harmonytheaterinc.org by midnight on Sunday, January 18, 2026. Callback notifications will be sent by Monday, January 19. In-person callbacks will be held on January 24, from 1:00–4:00 PM, though it may not be for the role originally performed.

Fill out the Audition Form HERE.

A NOTE ABOUT VIRTUAL “IMPROV” MONOLOGUES:

Auditioners will “read” a series of words (essentially a monologue) in the style of one of the suggested characters from the script. There is no need to formally prepare or memorize anything. What matters most is your understanding of the character’s voice, personality, rhythms, and quirks. When you are “reading,” focus on how the character behaves and performs. In some cases, you may not do a direct impression but instead embody the character’s overall vibe. Feel free to go nearly nuts in the very specific ways only the Muppets can.

Generic monologue suggestions can be found HERE.

NOTE: You may submit as many monologues as you wish. We suggest sharing your top three impressions. Above all, we want everyone to have fun with this exercise and show us the personality, imagination, and joy you bring to the table.

REHEARSALS

This fundraiser will follow a quick, flexible rehearsal process of roughly 10 sessions, scheduled around cast availability. Rehearsals will take place either Saturday or Sunday afternoons from 2:00–5:30 PM, or Monday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday evenings from 7:00–9:30 PM.

We’re casting early to give our costume team plenty of time to snag your sizes and whip together fun, fabulous creations. The process is intentionally actor-friendly and not meant to be a heavy lift.

Our first rehearsal will be an in-person read-through in January, followed by weekly rehearsals in February focusing mainly on music. Virtual rehearsals in February and March will concentrate on auditory storytelling, with a few in-person staging sessions during show week to discover creative ways to bring the screenplay to life.

Expect a little mayhem, plenty of laughter, and ample time to make your inner Muppet shine.

This fundraiser benefits the nonprofit Harmony Theater, Inc, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through inclusive, high-quality performing arts experiences. Harmony Theater is dedicated to amplifying voices, building confidence, and creating space for artists to be seen, heard, and celebrated. With your support, Harmony Theater can continue offering meaningful opportunities that place dignity, creativity, and community at the center of the stage.
